Our Founder's Story
Entering into a career in executive search after graduating from college in 1996, Chris Thurmond quickly learned just how critical the role of an executive recruiter is to the success of most large companies today. Starting his career with one of the largest specialty recruiting companies in the country, Kimmel & Associates, gave Chris the firm foundation and professional pride that would lead him and his future companies to the upper echelon of the specialty search arena.
After just four years, Chris founded Thurmond & Associates, a search firm specializing in the domestic, commercial construction market.
Then, in 2005, Chris co-founded Top Tier Services, LLC, with the help of one of his former co-workers from Kimmel & Associates. Top Tier Services expanded very quickly and grew to encompass two specializations with the addition of the financial services division.
In 2009 that partnership dissolved and Chris founded Thurmond & Company, Inc. With more than 25 years in the executive search industry, Chris stands head and shoulders above the crowd with a level of experience, knowledge, and pedigree which very few search professionals possess.

Meet Our Experts
Executive Vice President, Eastern Region Manager & Partner
Dave’s primary responsibility is to direct and manage all aspects of the Construction Division at Thurmond & Company, Inc. His main priority is to ensure that only the top talent in the construction industry is presented to our nationwide list of existing clients as well as future clients. He brings with him over 25 years of experience in Marketing, Sales and Client Services. He has spent the last 13 years in the Construction Executive Search industry, where he began his career at Top Tier Services with Chris Thurmond in 2005.
Account Executive
As career consultant Paul firmly believes that there is always another “next step” for someone that will make their life better. Many of his placements believed that being happy where they were in their career meant that there wouldn’t be another option or opportunity that could top what they already had. All have happily discovered that with Paul’s guidance and assistance that the opposite is actually true. There is always something better!
Marrying the goals of top-performing companies with the goals of the top-talent in the industry is an effort that dutifully considers the best interest of both. This is best done by an agent such as Paul.
Paul had an extensive career in operations management for both commercial and governmental ventures before joining Thurmond & Company. Paul currently handles the Texas region and works with a myriad of large and medium-size commercial general contractors.
Account Executive
Malik is a consultant specializing in confidential, tactical, and tailored placement for construction professionals in St. Louis and the Midwest. As a native of the St. Louis area, he provides extensive knowledge of all exciting construction opportunities in this region. Malik is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, NC. He has 9+ years of customer service, sales, and people skills to assist candidates in a smooth transition to the next stage of an exciting career.
Account Executive
Matt is a consultant specializing in placement of construction professionals in California and throughout the Southwest. As a native of Columbia, SC, he is an avid supporter of Gamecocks football and the Las Vegas Raiders. Matt attended Piedmont University in Demorest, GA and was a member of the baseball team there. He has nearly 20 years of customer service, sales, and people skills to assist candidates in a smooth transition to the next stage of their exciting career.
